As with all human activities, refrigeration and air conditioning applications have an impact upon the environment. Consumers and legislators are demanding continual focus on lowering this impact. We can help you meet this challenge.
Substantial advances have been made over the past two decades. The Montreal Protocolhas successfully phased out the highest ozone-depleting substances (CFCs) and is making good progress on other fronts (such as HCFCs). Manufacturers have also developed new, more eco-friendly refrigerants, and new appliances to use these refrigerants.
New legislation and growing consumer demands are pushing the industry to reduce further the carbon footprint of refrigeration systems. The market is now seeing the emergence of new, lower-GWP refrigerants (including hydrofluoro-olefins - or HFOs - and natural refrigerants) and a greater focus on leak detection coupled with the effective recovery and destruction of used refrigerants.
Linde: A Guiding Hand
At Linde, we are committed to the responsible use of natural resources, the development of clean technologies and the replacement of harmful substances with eco-friendly alternatives. We support the establishment of global legislation to phase down the most damaging refrigerants, as well as the development and commercialisation of new generations of more environmentally friendly refrigerants.
We can provide you with practical support to help you comply with environmental regulations and achieve your sustainability agenda, including:
|Information on how to minimise your environmental impact||Minimising Environmental Impact|
|Assistance in understanding ozone depletion legislation, its impact on you, and ways of ensuring effective compliance||Ozone Depletion Legislation|
|Guidance in understanding global warming legislation, its impact on you, and ways of ensuring effective compliance||Global Warming Legislation|
